Info

Monday

2 Chronicles 24-26

Here we continue the story of Joash repairing the temple and his death, followed by the life and death of Amaziah and Uzziah.

Tuesday

2 Chronicles 27-29

The reigns of Jothan, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, who cleansed the temple and restored true worship to the Lord.

Wednesday

2 Chronicles 30-32

Hezekaih reinstitutes the Passover, continues reforms, wins against Sennacherib, and eventually passes away.

Thursday

2 Chronicles 33-35

Manassah continued to reign as Hezekiah did. Joash likewise followed God and restored true worship according to the Law of the Lord. Unfortunately, he died in battle.

Friday

2 Chronicle 36-Ezra 1

Here we have the reigns of Jehoahaz, Jehoiakim, Jehoiachin, the fall of Jerusalem and the proclamation by Cyrus…which overlaps with Ezra chapter 1

Saturday

Ezra 2-3

Here we see those who returned with Zerubbabel to restore Jerusalem.

Interesting notes:

·         In chapter 26, this is the same Uzziah who was mentioned in Isaiah chapter 6 (probably about the time of verse 23.

·         In chapter 30, Hezekiah restored the Passover, which had not been held for 200 years.

·         In chapter 34, the book of the Law was probably a copy of Deuteronomy.

·         In chapter 36, don't confuse Jehoiakim and Jehoiachin. 2 Chron. 36:9 reads 8 years old in some version and 18 years old in others. He was probably 18, since he now had wives.

·         2 Chronicles 36:22-23 is the same as Ezra 1:1-3a. Both were probably written by Ezra.

·         Ezra 1:8 – Sheshbazzar is another name for Zerubbabel (Ezra 2:2)

·         In Ezra 2:2, the name Nehemiah is a different Nehemiah from the one who will rebuild the wall.

·         In Ezra 2:43, the Nethinims were the descendants of the non-Jews appointed by David to do the maintenance of the temple area.

·         In Ezra 3, verse 1 and 8, note that it took from September to June to prepare for the project.
