How to Read the Bible:

Read is daily, not as a newspaper, but as a letter from your Heavenly Father – as a letter from home.

When a cluster of Heavenly fruit hangs within your reach, gather it.

When a promise lies upon its pages as a blank check, cash it.

When a prayer is recorded, appropriate it and launch it as a feathered arrow from the bow of your desire.

When an example of holiness gleams before you, ask God to do as much for you.

When the truth of Christ is revealed in all its intrinsic splendor, entreat that His glory and beauty may ever irradiate the hemisphere of your life.

Something to Think About:

The Subject of the Bible is Redemption. It was purposed and planned by the Father, accomplished by the Son, and is revealed to us by the Holy Spirit.

The Purpose of the Bible is to provide a foundation for our faith, to make us wise unto salvation, and conform us unto the image of God's own Son.

Dwight L. Moody said of the Bible:
Admit it to be God's Word.
Submit to its Truths.
Commit much of it to memory.
Transmit it to others.

Something to Think About:

In a small church in Illinois a bus driver came in at the beginning of the service and sat in the very first row. After the service, the preacher talked to him and asked why he had occupied that position all alone. The bus driver explained, "I sat up there to see what you did to make everyone move to the back."

The church is a recruiting station

from which men should go out to fight the battles of the Lord,

not a home in which to live idly upon God's pension.
