Advent
Today is the second Sunday of Advent. It's a time of expectation of the coming of the Lord. Today's advent candle represents Love. The reading is from Isaiah 11:1-10.
Something to Think About:
In a small church in Illinois a bus driver came in at the beginning of the service and sat in the very first row. After the service, the preacher talked to him and asked why he had occupied that position all alone. The bus driver explained, "I sat up there to see what you did to make everyone move to the back."
The church is a recruiting station
from which men should go out to fight the battles of the Lord,
not a home in which to live idly upon God's pension.
