BIBLE READING

Deuteronomy was written by Moses (except the last chapter, of course) and was for the Jews.

·       Deuteronomy 8:10 is generally why we say grace with our meals.

·       Deuteronomy 9:12 – God is annoyed, that He calls them "your people" instead of "My people."

·       Deuteronomy, stating with chapter 16, focuses on why they were to do the feasts.

 

Luke was written by Luke to Theophilus and Gentiles. (Acts was also written by Luke to Theophilus and Gentiles.)

·       Luke 11 – Luke's version of the Lord's prayer, which is also given in Matthew 7.

·       Like athletes, we need to have motivation as we live our Christian lives.

·       Like athletes, we need self-control, submitting to God's will and not our desires.

·       Spiritual disciplines like Bible reading, Prayer, and Meditating help us to be the Christians we should be.

Numbers was written by Moses and was for the Jews.

·       Numbers 26:1 – We are now 38 years after the 1st census; all of those over 20 have died except for 3: Joshua, Caleb, and Moses.

 

Deuteronomy was written by Moses (except the last chapter, of course) and was for the Jews.

·       Deuteronomy 5:1-22 is the giving of the Law to this 2nd generation.

 

Luke was written by Luke to Theophilus and Gentiles. (Acts was also written by Luke to Theophilus and Gentiles.)

·       Luke 2:24 – The offering of pigeons indicated that they were poor.

·       Luke 3:6 – This quote was encouraging to Luke's non-Jewish audience.

·       Luke 3:22-38 – Luke traces Jesus' lineage back to Adam, as a way of showing that Jesus is for all people.

·       Pastors (past, present, and future) as well as church members (past, present, and future) are all on the same team accomplishing the same mission.

·       As we work together, let us build the church up with the right materials.

·       Let's avoid destroying the church from the inside out.

·       Numbers 13:33 – These "giants" were first mentioned in Genesis 6:4.

·       Numbers 24:17 – The "Star out of Jacob" was thought to refer to the coming Messiah. This may have been the verse to convince the Magi to go to Israel.

 

Colossians was written by Paul from a Roman prison.

·       Colossians 4:16 – The other epistle mentioned here may have been the book of Ephesians or another epistle that is not in our Bibles.

 

Luke was written by Luke to Theophilus and Gentiles. (Acts was also written by Luke to Theophilus and Gentiles.)

·       Luke 1:46-55 – This is called the "Magnificat" after the first word in the Latin translation.

·       Luke 1:68-79 – This is called the "Benedictus" after the first word in the Latin translation.

·       Love Triumphs Over Knowledge – don't let knowledge inflate our pride.

·       Something We Know Is Not Sinful May Be Sinful For Others

·       Love Triumphs Over Our Christian Liberty – don't let ourselves be stumbling blocks to others.


Let's grow in our knowledge of God and His Word. Let's use that knowledge to build others up. Let's balance that knowledge with love. Let love triumph over our knowledge. Let love triumph over our freedom, so that we don't tear others down. Let's not be a stumbling block to anyone.

·       Leviticus 17-26 – These chapters are called the Holiness Code, as they focus on how to live a holy life.

·       If you are angry with God, and are not a Christian, the first step is to accept His loving gift of salvation.

·       If you are angry with God, and are a Christian, then ask the Holy Spirit to help you think clearly, adopt Job's mindset, and Christ's compassion.
